Kartra Vs. Leadpages: Which One Should You Choose?
Today, we’re going to take a look at which of these two platforms are the best choice for your own needs. They’re two of the most popular page builders available for any entrepreneur today, but that doesn’t mean they’re the same.
Both tools focus around funnel building, page editing, and providing a full marketing package.
With that in mind, let’s see what they are, what they offer, and which one is better to fulfill your goals.
Kartra is an all-in-one suite with all the features necessary for both online businesses and marketers. I think “suite” is a better term than tool since it’s more of an array of individual tools integrated into a single platform and around a single goal.
It was released back in 2018, but it has quickly grown to become one of the most popular marketing solutions for many entrepreneurs. It’s constantly ranked among the best sales funnel editor, being a strong competitor for pages like ClickFunnels and BuilderAll.
Some people even say it’s the current best platform thanks to the sheer amount of features available—many of which would require you to find and buy additional tools. That alone is a huge advantage over other similar platforms.
The platform is always improving, and its developers constantly add new features to play around with. Right now, you can:
- Host content like video and even blog posts with solid SEO.
- Provide a good customer experience thanks to scheduling calendars, help desks, and even a personalized experience that automatically adapts to your customers’ profiles and behavior.
- Create entire programs for affiliates to join and promote your course for a commission. There’s even an entire in-built marketplace where you can post your offers or find products you can affiliate with.
- Save money thanks to its integrated email automation, carts and checkouts, web hosting, etc.
Leadpages is easily the standard when it comes to building landing pages. It has thousands of active users, and it’s been around for longer than many of its competitors.
Despite its age—which sometimes manifests through its interface and features—its popularity is understandable. It built a solid reputation, and its different features are more than enough to create excellent pages without touching a line of code or learn anything about design.
First off, you have hundreds of different templates to choose from. Depending on your niche and goals, you’ll most likely find a premade page that suits your need. Once you’ve found one that comes close, you can customize it however you want to make sure it fits your brand.
Speaking of pages, you also have split-testing capability with Leadpages. If you don’t know what it is, it basically lets you run 2 versions of the same page live at the same time. It keeps gathering performance data so that you can make a choice on which one is better.
Finally, we have different in-built apps like Leadboxes and Leaddigits, which add additional features to your site, like pop-ups and lead generation.
How Can Kartra Help Your Business?
As we already told you, Kartra is a complete suite of different features and tools. They all work with each other to provide a complete marketing approach, which traditionally would require you to find and pay for different separate apps and then learn how to integrate them.
You can check out its homepage if you want to learn what it’s capable of, but it doesn’t do justice to its real functionality. There are dozens of features packed into a single tool, and it’s quite difficult to categorize it with other services.
You can call it a page builder, email service, hosting solution, funnel builder… You get the point: it has a lot. You also have templates and resources to help you understand and use Kartra efficiently.
If you did take a look at the homepage, you might have noticed how many features it lists as well. At first sight, it definitely seems “too good”, but there’s even a free trial where you can try all features for 14 days.
First off, we need to talk about the behavioral adaptive marketing automation feature. It takes information from your customers’ profiles and tailors your pages and content to provide a unique experience.
There’s also an affiliate marketing center. It automatically tracks all analytics from your affiliates’ performance and pays them based on the rates you’ve determined beforehand.
The help desk functionality lets you create an entire customer support hub. Customers can reach out to you via live chat, support tickets, and calls via phone and Skype. You can set up a product wiki with resources like FAQ’s as well. All of this can be created for each one of your products as well.
Opt-in forms are easy to create and customize. It integrates with an extensive but intuitive email automation system. You can use a straightforward workflow interface and use triggers and tags to automate your entire email marketing approach.
Another main feature is the membership site builder. You can set up your different tiers as well as how much content each one has access to. It lets you monitor their process as well. It integrates with the in-built video hosting and player, that works with your tagging system and lets you place messages, forms, and CTAs during the video.
You also have entirely premade pages and campaigns. You can find templates for every page you need, including your checkout and cart pages, so you only need to import and customize them. The main attraction is definitely its premade funnel campaigns, with entire sales funnels ready for you to edit and launch them. Both your pages and campaigns are categorized into goals and niches.
The in-built calendar app lets you set up a live calendar on your website. It works with your funnels and checkout pages, and your customers can use it to schedule any meetings and sessions with you and pay instantly.
Finally, tags give you access to deep and detailed analytics reports. You can learn which visitors land on certain pages, click certain links and emails, and more. All of this information also goes into your BAM-adaptive pages to provide the most unique customer experience I’ve seen.
Kartra integrates easily with several of the most popular online business solutions. Besides, you probably won’t need to spend too much on integrations with all of the in-built solutions from Kartra.
You can find your integration settings on your Kartra dashboard. It currently supports different payment gateways, email services, SMS platforms, and membership sites. The most important integration, however, is Zapier, as it lets you integrate Kartra with platforms it doesn’t directly support.
First off, you can try out all the features from Kartra for 2 weeks. It costs only $1, and it’s up to you whether or not you want to upgrade to one of the paid plans.
As for the subscriptions, we have 4: Starter, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. They’re priced at $99, $199, $299, and $499 respectively.
One of my favorite things about Kartra is that you have access to every feature right from the Starter plan. The only additional limitation is that you can only build 2 membership websites.
However, upgrading to the Silver plan removes the membership site cap, and you can use Kartra to its full potential. You only need to upgrade to a higher plan if you need to send more emails, add more contacts, custom domains and products, or increase your bandwidth.
How can Leadpages help your business?
Leadpages is much more simpler—in fact, we could say that’s its main selling point. It’s basically a drag-and-drop builder with hundreds of optimized templates for your landing pages; they’re all perfect for both desktop and mobile devices.
This software works with virtually all email services available to generate and manage leads. It doesn’t do it on its own, but it’s unbeatable when it comes to landing pages.
A large reason for that is that it comes with more page customization features than Kartra. It’s a specialized software just for that, so it’s to be expected. You can use it to create landing pages in a few minutes without messing with any code.
The most impressive feature in Leadpages is its huge library of page templates. You can pick any template you want for any goal or niche you want to tackle. Then, you just edit and launch them.
You have templates for checkouts, contests, webinars, upsells, product pages, and more. Besides, you can split-test all of your creations to find out which is the best page for conversions.
Then, we have its in-built apps. Leadboxes lets you create 2-step pop-ups to capture leads based on different factors like exit intent or timer. Leadlinks lets you match existing leads to different offers by inserting special links into your emails; once they click them, they automatically subscribe to your new campaign. Finally, Leaddigits lets your customers opt into your mailing list via text message.
It integrates seamlessly with WordPress with its own WordPress plugin. Even better, you can publish your pages on any of your existing websites. You can also embed videos from external sources and use premium images from Shuttershock.
Finally, if you want even more versatility, you can edit the HTML directly.
Listing all of the integrations supported by Leadpages would take us an entire article on its own, so let me give you an overview of what you can do with it. Keep in mind that Leadpages only builds pages, but it’s great at doing that, so the spectrum for what it can integrate with is huge.
First off, you can integrate Leadpages with analytics like Google and JS. It’s great for tracking your pages’ performance.
You can also integrate it with countless types of platforms. Firstly, we can use Leadpages with CRM solutions like Infusionsoft, Salesfor, and Contactually. Secondly, we can use it with CMS like WordPress. Thirdly, it supports eCommerce platforms like Shopify, along payment gateways.
You can also use Leadpages for your marketing needs since it integrates with social media and advertising platforms. The same goes for email marketing and webinars.
You also have a 14-day trial with Leadpages, but it’s completely free. After it’s done, you can upgrade to one of the 3 different plans: Standard, Pro, and Advanced. They’re priced at $37, $79, and $321 monthly, respectively. There’s also a discount if you pay the full year.
However, Leadpages is more limited depending on which plan you get. For instance, the Standard plan doesn’t include split-tests, in-built apps like Leadlinks, and a couple other features.
Finally, you can only create 1 and 3 sites with the Standard and Pro plans, respectively. The Advanced plan turns it to 50.
Pros and cons
Kartra is a lot more varied when it comes to what you can do. You have countless tools built into the platform like the help desk and email automation features. Besides, you have countless premade pages and campaigns.
The only problem with Kartra is that it can be expensive when compared to Leadpages. Newcomers might also find it overwhelming.
On the other hand, Leadpages is intuitive, and anyone can pick it up quickly. You have even more templates than Kartra, and its customization features are more versatile. You also have 3 in-built apps to save a bit on integrations.
The problem is that it’s only for page building. It’s more of an integration than a full suite like Kartra, so you’ll probably end up spending more money in integrations than simply getting Kartra’s Silver plan.
Both platforms are excellent at what they do. The thing is that Kartra simply does more, so I must declare it as the winner here.
Still, it depends on what you want to do. If you’re starting from zero or need all of the features from Kartra, then it’s the most cost-efficient choice in the long run.
If you’re only looking to build pages and nothing else—maybe you already have your own apps running—then there’s no reason not to go for Leadpages. Just keep in mind the site limitations.
